Hike to the famous Trollpikken through the unique landscape of Magma Geopark.
  • Magma Landscape

  • Trollpikken stone formation

  • Beautiful nature

  • Knowledgeable local guide

On this hike you will have a chance to enjoy the beautifully landscape shaped by traditional cultivation and animal farming. Geologically the area is characterized by the fact that it is shaped by ice, and you will find several signs of the movement of the ice. One of the clearer signs is moving blocks that are scattered around in the landscape.

Trollpikken is the name of a famous phallus-shaped stone formation formed by nature thousands of years ago from warm and red-glowing molten rock. Today it is situated within a beautiful cultural landscape in the Magma Geopark, where the rock in the area is anorthosite. Anorthosite is a plutonic rock formed by magma deep beneath a large mountain range about 1 billion years ago. Long before it was known that anorthosite is the same rock as on the surface of the moon, the area here was called lunar landscape, as the area had sparse vegetation and was not very fertile. A hike in this unique landscape is something very special since it is almost like being on the moon.
