Join a guided walk through the fjord village of Urke and into a beautiful valley in the heart of the Sunnmøre Alps.
In April and early May, see the snowcapped peaks that make this area popular for ski touring. Later in the season, you’ll have the chance to visit a traditional shieling, a shepherd’s shelter at the village’s summer grazing meadows. Here, you can learn about Norway’s farming history up close.
As you walk, you will learn more about everyday life in this region and hear stories about the mountains, the fjords, and the small villages of the Hjørundfjord.
Expect to walk up to 7km on gravel roads, with some uphill portions. Alternative shorter hikes may be arranged.
Remarks/requirements:Backpack with water bottle, extra clothing, sunglasses recommended. Comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots recommended. Participants should be in good health.
Walking information:This hike can be up to 7km, along a gravel road. The first portion of the walk is uphill. Alternative shorter hikes in the area may be arranged.
