Marine life haven 

At Sumburgh Head, you’ll see Shetland’s oldest lighthouse, built in 1821. As a stunning nature reserve, the cliffs surrounding the area are filled with nesting seabirds and the seas are home to marine animals like harbour porpoises, white-beaked dolphins and whales.

  • Walking information: Sumburgh Head includes a half-mile walk up a steep path to the lighthouse. Hoswick is at guests’ discretion.
