History and Heights

We’ll begin with a short transfer by 4x4 vehicle to reach Þórarinsstaðir archaeological site, where the remains of a medieval church and graveyard lie.

Then we’ll continue on to the 1,250-hectare Skálanes nature reserve. A former farmstead, the reserve is brimming with life, and the 2,224-foot coastal cliffs are home to thousands of birds in season, including eiders and Arctic terns. Walk up to the viewpoint to admire the awe-inspiring vistas, and keep an eye out for whales and seals who can sometimes be spotted in the waves below.

*While we're excited to share the unique flavors of this region with you, it’s important to note that allergy awareness and hygiene standards can vary widely across the world. The local community providing food for this tour may not be as familiar with allergy concerns or preparation standards as suppliers in your home country or the expert chefs onboard our ships.
