Tina Hudnik | Expedition Coordinator

Enjoying the outdoors and exploring the natural world in a respectful and sustainable way is more than a passion, it’s a way of life.

Inspire, Explore, Respect

For Tina, enjoying the outdoors and exploring the natural world is more than a passion, it’s a way of life. Prior to joining Hurtigruten, she ran and managed her own tour company that focused on sustainable and responsible tourism in her hometown of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Having shared the beauty of her beloved Slovenia with thousands of guests, she wanted to explore and experience more of the polar regions and Hurtigruten allowed her to do just that. Inspired by the company’s focus on sustainable & responsible tourism, she joined MS Maud in 2021.

She has the most fun, but also one of the most stressful jobs within the Expedition Team, as the Expedition Coordinator. Responsible for all the activities that happen off the ship, it's her responsibility to ensure all our guests are happy and get to experience the best of our breathtaking destinations. On the brief occasions, she can escape the tender pit, her favourite activity is exploring the coastline with our guests on our small expedition tenders.

Since getting onboard, Tina has been able to explore many areas of the Arctic as well as the British Isles. Every port we call at is her favourite, offering something different to explore, discover or experience every time we visit – but the Norwegian coastline will always hold a special place in her heart.

Guest story | Reassuring a guest

Tina was approached by a guest who wanted to sign up for a hike but was worried he would slow the group down. She told him not to worry and that the Expedition Team will be with him the whole way. He decided to follow Tina's calming advice and went on the trip. The night after the hike she spoke with him and was so grateful for her support and guidance, also that he wasn't the slowest in the group!

Favourite activity | Small boat cruising

On the rare opportunity Tina is able to step away from her desk, her favourite activity is taking guests out on the tenders to explore the local area. This chance to share the experience with our guests brings them closer to the natural world and wildlife.

Favourite destination | Norway

This is difficult as every port and destination has something very different to offer - even when visiting within the same year the seasons can bring about a new experience. However, her fondness for Norway prevails and the Norwegian coastline is still her favourite place to visit and take guests.
