See the most iconic sights of Buenos Aires

The city has some truly eye-catching landmarks that are definitely worth a visit. Teatro Colón is a must see; the enormous building takes up an entire city block and holds up to 3,000 spectators. With its amazing acoustics, be sure to book tickets for a classical music concert, opera, or ballet. Plaza de Mayo is a significant landmark for its long association with Argentine politics, and it’s often the site of protests and demonstrations.

Take in some culture

Buenos Aires is bursting with museums to suit every taste. The Latin American Modern Arts Museum (MALBA) is the place to go to discover Latin American art from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, while the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes should be your first choice if you want to learn more about the development of the Argentine art scene. There’s also a substantial collection of European impressionist art.

Eva "Evita" Perón was arguably one of Argentina’s best-known figures, and the Museo Evita is dedicated to her life and works, as both an actress and an activist. You could also visit the Casa Rosada, the eye-catching pink presidential mansion where Perón addressed the masses in Plaza de Mayo. Also in the plaza is the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral, the city’s main Catholic church. The facade closely resembles a classical Greek temple with twelve neoclassical columns and a bas-relief frontispiece depicting a scene between Jacob and his son, Joseph.

Have a different sort of beach day

Buenos Aires and its surroundings have a fair share of golden, sandy beaches with crystal-clear, blue water that stretches to the horizon. Make your way to Peru Beach for a fun day out filled with plenty of outdoor activities. There is, among other things, water and kite surfing, a climbing wall, hard-surface tennis courts, AstroTurf pitches, and a covered roller-hockey rink. Of course, you could just relax with an ice-cold beer and a picnic.
