The Palasip Qaqqaa trail is one of the classic Sisimiut day hikes. From the peak you get a 360-degree view over the sea, fjords, and landscape around the town.
Ascending the summit of this 1,800-ft. high mountain near Sisimiut is a challenging hike, but you are rewarded with spectacular views of the town and sea the entire journey. Along the route you see several species of local flora and may encounter foxes, grouse and eagles. Musk oxen have been observed near the top!

The hike takes you through a surprisingly fertile terrain of bushes, flowers and moss. Several small waterfalls of clear spring water offer refreshment along the trail. Reaching the summit, you are rewarded with an amazing view of the town to the south and the Kangerluarsuk Tulleq Fjord to the north.
