Warm, waterproof layers of clothing and comfortable, sturdy walking boots
In 1980, the National Trust for Scotland took jurisdiction over much of Iona. The famous Abbey and its buildings are in the care of Iona Cathedral Trust. This walk combines history with wildflowers, wildlife, stunning views, and geology—you may even have the chance to hear the elusive corncrake calling from a field or garden. This circular walk goes along the coast and inland, taking in the geography of the island. This relatively easy walk winds along narrow roads and tracks with some uneven terrain. A gentle uphill jaunt finishes back at the jetty, leaving you time to poke around the settlement and explore independently.
