Discover the Costa da Morte (Coast of Death), called so because of the numerous shipwrecks over the ages in this part of the Atlantic coast in Galicia. The coast here is as mesmerizing as it is dangerous, as the sea hits the coastline and the cliffs. On a clear day, the views are amazing, but turn foreboding when stormy and windy.

Our first stop will be the beacon at Cabo Vilan, one of the windiest places in Galicia.

Then it’s on to Muxia, the final stage of the pilgrimage route after reaching Santiago de Compostela. This seaside resort town is famous for the church of Nosa Señora da Barca, built on a promontory, where—according to tradition—the Madonna is said to have appeared to Saint James.

We then head back to Finisterre, the ‘End of the Known World’—or at least that’s what the Romans thought. It is also the end of Saint James’ Way. Once pilgrims arrive in Santiago, many of them continue the journey to the promontory, the end of the earth. All you have is the Atlantic Ocean in front of you and a lonely lighthouse to warn the ships.
