Join us on a visit to Uummannaq, a friendly and picturesque town which is sure to capture your heart.
  • Wander Uummannaq Museum and discover fascinating artifacts such as replicas of the Qilakitsoq mummies.

  • Discover well-preserved peat houses and exquisite art exhibited in The Old Doctor’s House.

  • Admire the beautiful stone church built in 1935, one of only three in Greenland.

A town with heart

Meaning heart-like in Greenlandic, Uummannaq is named after the 3855-ft, heart-shaped mountain that looks over the town.

While we’re here, the local museum, which is housed in a hospital dating back to 1880, will be opened for you to explore. The collections include fascinating historic artifacts, replicas of the Qilakitsoq mummies, and an overview of Alfred Wegener's work in Greenland. You’ll also get to visit the stone church built in 1935 and some remarkably well-preserved peat houses, one of which was inhabited until 1980.
