Traditional crafts

Tanning – the conservation of hides – is an old trade that has been practised for thousands of years. Learn about the old Greenlandic hunting traditions, which are still an important part of life here and the backbone of the culture. Your local guide will explain the ways and means of seal hunting, and the working conditions of today's hunters.

  • Walking information: The walk to the tannery takes approx. 5 minutes along the harbour.

  • Remarks/requirements: The tannery visit might happen after working hours. Wind and rain proof jacket and flat shoes recommended. Photos are not allowed.
