The Callanaish Stones

Discover Gaelic culture and history on Lewis. You’ll visit the mysterious Callanish Stones, Scotland’s Stonehenge, dating back 5,000 years. We’ll stop at Dun Carloway Broch, an example of Iron Age architecture, before exploring Arnol Blackhouse, a traditional long house made with drystone masonry and thatched roofing. A crofting family would have lived here together with their farm animals.

Travel north to Gearrannan Blackhouse Village to explore a reconstructed coastal crofting settlement made in the traditional way using drystone masonry and thatched roofing. From here, it’s a short walk to the beautiful Dalmore and Dalbeg beaches.
