Planned itinerary Pre-programme

Our Pre-programme allows you to explore even more of your destinations before sailing with Hurtigruten.

Discover the lakes, glaciers and snow-covered mountains of Chilean Patagonia, using Puerto Natales as your base. This programme starts in Santiago and ends at the pier in Punta Arenas.

Day 1: Santiago/Punta Arenas/Puerto Natales

Your Pre-Programme begins in Santiago. We’ll transfer you from your hotel to the airport for your flight to Punta Arenas. From there, we’ll cross the magnificent steppe to Puerto Natales. Look out for Magellan Ostriches – with luck you might even see condors spiralling in the sky. Your Puerto Natales hotel offers incredible views of the Patagonian fjords. Explore your surroundings at your leisure and enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: Puerto Natales/Torres del Paine

You have an early start today for a full-day excursion in Torres del Paine National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage biosphere is one of the best places to visit in Chilean Patagonia, with incredible wildlife and mountain scenery. We’ll tour the length of the park by van, stopping at lookout points, and enjoying short hikes to fully experience Patagonia up close. Enjoy lunch and snacks on the way, then dinner back at your hotel.

Day 3: Puerto Natales /Ultima Esperanza fjord

Today, you’ll experience a thrilling motorboat cruise from Puerto Natales to Ultima Esperanza Fjord, with a typical Patagonian lunch along the way. You’ll visit the 1,000-year-old Balmaceda Glacier, home to cormorants and sea lions. We’ll also walk to the foot of the Serrano Glacier, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and walls of ice. After, we'll return to Puerto Natales. The rest of the day is your own, with dinner at the hotel.

Day 4: Puerto Natales/Punta Arenas

After breakfast at the hotel, we'll drive back to Punta Arenas, giving you a second chance to enjoy the steppe landscape and wildlife. Your Pre-Programme adventure ends as we arrive at the pier in the afternoon to join your ship for your expedition cruise.

Please note that we may visit sites in a different order.
