Come summer, the Land of the Midnight Sun truly lives up to its name. Our 6-, 7-, 11- or 12 days expeditions takes you along the coastline and into fjords.
Make the most of your expedition cruise
Summer is the most popular time of year for exploring Norway’s coast. The long, light days during the summer months seem to energise both nature and people. Even as far south as Bergen you can experience 19 hours of daylight. Flowers bloom, rivers fill with fish and giant waterfalls cascade towards the ocean, creating a picture-perfect setting for a summer holiday. Many of our exciting activities and excursions take place in the evening or even late at night: Sleep on deck, have breakfast at the North Cape, enjoy a midnight concert, go on a mountain hike in Lofoten or a RIB safari adventure, go kayaking or join a whale safari early in the morning.
Experience something different at each port
The Midnight Sun - literally sunshine at midnight - is a natural phenomenon you can only experience north of the Arctic Circle. This means you have a chance to see all northern destinations in daylight. Daylight in the middle of the night is an intense experience, and you may have to force yourself to go to bed. Moreover, many of the 34 ports we call on along the route, are small ports that other cruise liners do not visit. With Hurtigruten, you will see more of Norway and experience more of its culture and traditions.
A taste of summer
Since we are calling on so many ports, our ships have access to fresh produce from local suppliers every day. On a trip with Hurtigruten, you will experience the taste of Norwegian summer: lamb from Geiranger, king crab from the Barents Sea, cheese and cod from Lofoten, reindeer from Finnmark , and much more.
