Day 2: Quito-Coca

In the morning, a transfer will pick you up to Quito airport. Embark on a 30-minute flight over the eastern Andes mountain range to Coca. Upon arrival, take a short transfer to the port, where you will take a private electric canoe for a two-hour ride down the Napo River, leaving civilization far behind. Enjoy lunch before boarding or a eat a box lunch en route.

Along the way, you can spot birds like herons, kingfishers, and others.

After the canoe ride, we take a 30-minute hike through the rainforest to Lake Pilchicocha, where native workers await to paddle you across the lake to the lodge. From here, you can enjoy a swim, spot several species of birds from the mini-towers or visit the butterfly house with your naturalist guide.

Take a night walk through the rainforest after dinner to see hundreds of species of animals that can only be found at night. You could also take a canoe ride on the lake.

Days 3–4: Sacha Lodge or similar

Enjoy two nights of accommodation, including full board, at the Sacha Lodge or similar.

There will be different morning and afternoon activities offered. Start your day with a canopy walk. This bird walk is located within Sacha’s private reserve and gives you a chance to see the rainforest canopy for yourself, up close. As you explore the lush swaths of rainforest around Sacha Lodge, you will surely encounter an interesting phenomenon: the clay licks of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Hundreds of colorful parrots flock to these walls of clay to give them an enthusiastic lick. This sight is an odd one, to be sure.

After lunch, you can take a leisurely hike along the Napo River or choose a little more challenging hike on the Leoncillo trail and try to spot the elusive dusky titi monkey.

The next day, enjoy a calm canoe ride through a natural swamp, which is the home of anacondas, caimans and capybaras. Head back to the lodge for a refreshing dip in the lake or a relaxing nap in your personal hammock. You can also learn how to fish the infamous piranha.

Day 5: Sacha Lodge - Quito

After breakfast, depart in the morning through a boardwalk to the river, navigating back to Coca. You will take a short flight back to Quito and arrive in the early afternoon.

Upon arrival at your hotel in Quito, you can use the rest of the day to explore Ecuador´s capital at your leisure one more time. Enjoy an overnight stay.
