Itinerary for your Post-Program

Day 1:

After disembarking the vessel, take the route to visit historic Signal Hill, where the Italian inventor Marconi received the first transatlantic wireless signal in 1901. Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view over the city and the rugged coastline, and spot the continent’s easternmost point in the distance. Learn about the area’s 18th-century battles and 20th-century aviation wonders. Then, travel to Cape Spear, an escarpment jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean and the easternmost point in North America.

If you would like, you can explore the Cape Spear Lighthouse, the oldest surviving lighthouse in the province. It has been restored to its condition in 1839, and it shows how a lighthouse keeper and their family might have lived in the mid-19th century. Next, visit Newman Wine Vaults, which has a rich history dating back to the 1600s when it was used to mature barrels of port wine. Enjoy a sample of Newman’s port wine and a guided tour of this unique establishment, which now operates as a provincial historic site.

The tour will end at your hotel in the downtown area, where you will enjoy a one-night stay.
