Itinerary for your Pre-Program

Day 1: San Jose/Arrival

Individual arrival at your hotel where you will spend the night. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 2: San José/Puntarenas

In the morning, you will meet your guide and head from your hotel to Costa Ricas´s Pacific coast. There, you will board a boat to explore the Tárcoles River. This is the richest mangrove forest on the Mid-Pacific coast. The four different species of tree here create a lush habitat for over 250 different kinds of birds, including kingfishers, roseate spoonbills, anhingas, and great herons. It is also the most important scarlet macaw conservation area in the country, which are easily recognizable by their bright orange-red color. Observe wild crocodiles lining the riverbanks, belonging to one of the largest colonies in the world. Some of grow as long as 15 feet.

Afterward, enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch before catching your transfer to Puntarenas, where your Hurtigruten ship awaits.

Please note that the order of sights might vary.
