Visit Barentsburg and Ny-Ålesund, and marvel at the amazing landscapes and unique wildlife in the Arctic.
After three nights on board MS Nordstjernen, you arrive the north side of Kongsfjorden and Blomstrandhamna - our base camp and wilderness home for the next few days.
The Blomstrand peninsula is situated south of the camp. This island was attached to mainland Svalbard by the Blomstrand glacier a few years ago. This glacier has now retracted and we will circumnavigate to reach the island. The area offers a variety of trekking routes. A hike on the glacier offers spectacular ice formations and crevasses combined with a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains and the Kongsfjord area. Every day in the camp, different hikes will be planned. We hike in small groups, together with our knowledgeable local guide who carries all the necessary safety equipment. There are no paths or roads along the way. The terrain is rocky, wild, untouched and beautiful! Living in the camp intensifies the feeling of freedom and our connection to the Arctic wilderness.
During the night, we take turns of watching the camp for polar bears. There is always a guide close by who will be ready to take control if you do see the King of the Artic.
We will spend three nights in the camp before MS Nordstjernen calls for our return and we head back to Longyearbyen.
