For this expedition, we will pick you up at your hotel before we drive out to Bolterdalen, one of the side valleys from Adventdalen. We take a look at the remains of a 9400-year-old whale before we arrive the dog yard Green Dog. From here, we continue our expedition by foot. The first part of our hike is down towards a river that runs through the valley floor. We’ll stay close to a grass-covered mountainside in order to stay dry, but we need to be careful and look out for any bird nests in the area. The birds like to lay their eggs here because the dogs from the dog yard scare away any Arctic foxes that roam the area. Bolterdalen is a great area to experience any wildlife, such as the Svalbard reindeer and grouse, but the valley is also surrounded by impressive mountains and the view to the north and south is nothing but spectacular. Back at the dog yard, you can meet and cuddle with the puppies and other dogs before we gather in our warm and charming cabin for waffles and hot tea or coffee.
