Picture this! We have finished the 6th season of the Hurtigruten photo competition, and also this time we received thousands of beautiful pictures taken by our guests. Every month we select a picture of the month, and at the end of a competition period we select the annual first prize winner.
The quality of the pictures is very high and when selecting the first prize winner, the jury included also external jury members. Trym Ivar Bergsmo and Ørjan Bertelsen, celebrated North Norwegian photographers, famous for imagery of North Norwegian nature, people and culture, were the extra members when the three shortlisted images met in the Grand Finale.
Did you know that the Norway coastal route calls for different fjords depending on the season? In autumn, among others, we explore Hjørundfjord, situated amidst the majestic Sunnmøre Alps. That is where Thomasz Furmanek took his exciting winner picture with the kayak pointing to MS Nordlys in the background.
The judges comment:
The winner of the latest Hurtigruten Photo Competition is Tomasz Furmanek. Tomasz, also known as @tfbergen on Instagram, is kayaking the Norwegian Fjords all the time and he’s become a social media hit with his signature images of his kayak pointing towards the beauty he’s moving into; landscapes, fjords, beaches, cultural seascapes and so on. Hurtigruten is proud to serve as an “eye-catcher” on this winning image from Tomasz.
PS Tomasz: when you take your 1st price voyage on the coast of Norway with Hurtigruten – bring your kayak!
