Restaurants on the Svalbard Express and the North Cape Express
The dining options aboard exquisitely designed MS Trollfjord proudly present Norwegian cuisine at its finest, most classic, and most sustainable.
Connecting you to the coast through cuisine
Our chefs source the best local ingredients along our route to reimagine dishes from times past. Our fresh and flavorsome food is homegrown and locally sourced, whose purchase is good for both local suppliers and nature.
Feel closer to coastal cuisine through cooking demonstrations. Just take a look at our pantries, which display dry-aged premium meat cuts and mouthwatering micro-herbs. You can expect a delectable afternoon tea/coffee time and dishes inspired by our local region.
Demonstration Kitchen
MS Trollfjord has it very own demonstration kitchen located on the top deck. There, our talented chefs take you from fjord to fork with in-depth demonstrations, such as fish filleting and curing.
These mini cooking courses are set against the Norwegian landscape that produced the very ingredients we use. As we sail, you’ll pass the fjords that gave us our fish, the mountains that grew our herbs, and the slopes that reared our lamb.
You’ll also learn about local delicacies such as seaweed and skrei in the demonstration kitchen. You will find out where they come from, how to prepare them, and (of course) how they taste. There are plenty of other delights to sample, from wine tasting to a flaming barbeque to traditional Norwegian lefse, hot off the griddle.
Main restaurant
Norway is famed for the age-old food preservation techniques developed by our forefathers to survive the hard Arctic winters. Join us as we celebrate these traditional methods with modern flair in a menu that adapts to the ingredients that are fresh at that season.
Each dish incorporates a classic Norwegian technique like salting, drying, smoking, curing, or pickling to create dishes that are bursting with iconic flavors, local ingredients, and a touch of nostalgia.
Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you’ll find some of Norway’s most cherished coastal dishes. Plus, you can enjoy the perfect send-off on the last night of your voyage: the gala dinner.
Brasseri
In the mood for hearty, traditional food bursting with local ingredients and flavor? Head to Brasseri Bistro for all-day dining. With a relaxed and rustic ambience, you’ll find skaps cabinets showcasing dry-aged fish, meat, and micro-herbs.
Eat to your heart’s content with retro favorites like whole-roasted kje legs (kid goat), boknalam, or Arctic char from Finnmark. If you prefer to grab and go, there are a range of satisfying takeaway sandwiches and burgers that you can eat where you please.
Our fine dining restaurant
Savor a sublime à la carte experience where top-quality local and seasonal ingredients present you with the finest flavors of the Norwegian coast. Craft your own multi-course meal from the wide selection of dishes on offer, including recipes born from our award-winning local Culinary Ambassadors: head chefs Astrid Nässlander and Halvar Ellingsen.
You can find succulent meat, vegetarian, and vegan dishes on the menu, but keep in mind this is first and foremost a seafood restaurant. Treat yourself to hand-plucked scallops, melt-in-your-mouth Arctic char, fresh oysters, and juicy crayfish. Seaweed and kelp appear across many of our dishes, as they are sustainable, nutritious, and packed with flavor.
To complement the unmistakable flavors of the sea, we serve some of the freshest Norwegian herbs, vegetables, and flora plucked straight from the mountains, valleys, and forests. Our resident sommeliers are also on hand to help pair the perfect wine with each dish.
Panorama Bar
On board MS Trollfjord, enjoy local drinks and afternoon tea/coffee at the bar. Situated in the two-story observation deck, it’s a great place to unwind and marvel at the outstanding views. You’ll find signature cocktails made with berries picked along the coast, beer brewed with water from Trollfjord, gin crafted in the clear fjords of Troms, and a wide selection of Norwegian aquavit.
