Pre-Cruise Land Adventure: Santiago Walking Tour
Enjoy a fascinating walk through the historical part of Santiago de Chile, including a visit to the lively Central Market.
Transfer by vehicle from your hotel to Santa Lucia Hill, where Santiago was founded in February 1541. Begin an easy walk on the hill over paved road and continue up to Lastarria, a nice neighborhood offering history and a cultural environment with cozy restaurants, stores and art galleries. Coffee or ice cream stop.
Continue walking and encounter New York street where the city’s financial heart is located. Some blocks away, we stop in front of La Moneda Government Palace. A little further away is the Main Square (Plaza de Armas), surrounded by the Cathedral, Post Office, City Hall and other historic buildings. Afterwards, proceed to the Central Market. Built with iron from Glasgow, it was designed by Chilean architect Fermín Vivaceta and opened its doors in 1872. In addition to a busy fish market, where you can watch fishmongers sell fresh seafood from the coast to locals, the market is home to many restaurants full of tourists and Chileans alike. Board the transport vehicle and return to your hotel.
