Day 1: Santiago de Chile
Overnight, incl. breakfast at hotel in Santiago de Chile.
Day 2: Santiago de Chile / San Pedro Atacama
Morning transfer to Santiago de Chile airport and direct flight to Calama. From here you will be transferred to San Pedro de Atacama, located 2,400m above sea level. The transfer through the Atacama desert takes approx. 1.5 hours. San Pedro is a small village with narrow alleys and traditional adobe houses, known as the archaeological capital of Chile.
Check-in at your hotel. Cumbres Atacama Hotel is located on 8 hectares of land with an architecture based on the indigenous Ayllus or Atacama style. It offers a unique experience which combines comfort, relaxation, fine cuisine and explorations into the mystique of the north of Chile.
Enjoy a little snack upon arrival and dinner at the hotel. Get a good night´s sleep
Day 3-5: San Pedro de Atacama
Breakfast at your hotel. Take the opportunity to relax at the hotel swimming pool or choose from a variety of full day and half day excursions offered by the hotel.
Discover the geysers, saltpans, High Andean lagoons and other geological and archeological sites in the area.
An experienced team of guides accompanies the excursions. There are also bikes available to explore the nearby landscape and San Pedro on your own.
Just to name some of the experiences that you can register for at the hotel (subject to availability, timing and weather):
Moon Valley, approximately at 16:00-19:30
Declared a Sanctuary of Nature and Natural Monument. Climb the Duna Mayor (Major Dune) which provides a beautiful view of the Cordillera de la Sal, the Valley of Death and the Salt Flats, among many other sights with the dramatic sunset in the background. Time allowing, this excursion can already be taken on day of your arrival in the hotel.
Tatio Geysirs, approximately at 05:30-12:00
Located at a height of 4,300 m above sea level and at approx. 89 km from San Pedro de Atacama. Drive through the geothermal field where you can see geysers and fumaroles. Continue to Machuca and look out for vicuñas and flamingos.
Archeological Tour, half day
You will visit the archeological site of Tulor - the oldest vestige and first human settlement in the Atacama Salt Flat, learning about the history and evolution of the Atacameño people.
Lunch and dinner at the hotel. Overnight.
Day 5: San Pedro de Atacama/Santiago
You will be transferred back to Calama Airport in the morning. Flight back to Santiago de Chile and transfer to your hotel.
The following overnight is part of your Antarctica voyage.
