Planned itinerary post-cruise land adventure
Day 1: Guayaquil City Tour
After disembarkation, start your Guayaquil city tour by visiting an enormous tile sculpture of an iguana before continuing along Carlos J. Arosemana Avenue to admire more exquisite tiled art work along the city’s highways. At Centennial Park on Avenida 9 de Octubre, see the city’s past and present as we pass by the first fire station, the Masonic temple and buildings from the early 20th century. Continue down Chile Street, known for its street market and visit Seminario Park, in front of the cathedral. Next we visit the Malecón 2000 boardwalk along the river. Proceed along Malecón Simón Bolivar to the Civic Plaza, the Moorish Tower, City Hall and the Rotonda Monument. We finally stop at Las Peñas, an old neighborhood where the city was founded, located at the foot of Santa Ana Hill.
Afterwards, we head to the Parque Histórico Guayaquil, which was founded as a project by Banco Central to recapture the city’s history and culture for local children. Discover the city’s profound sense of identity and the traditions that make up Guayaquil’s origins and cultural roots. Once inside, you are transported to a world where the past meets the present. See the animal species that once populated the ancient province of Guayaquil, from deer to tapirs, monkeys and wild cats, and discover an amazing world highlighting nature’s essential contribution to local life.
Also, visit the replica of a countryside hacienda farm in Parque Histórico Guayaquil and discover how local craftsmen used to work. Watch or take part in the hacienda’s duties and experience the unknown side of coastal Ecuadoran life, which has remained virtually unchanged since the colonial era.
The tour will end at your hotel in Guayaquil. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight at your hotel.
