Follow the trail of the famous Finnmark dog race
On this trip, you will travel to a wilderness camp on a husky sledge and enjoy an overnight stay at the camp, surrounded by nature. After a short drive to a husky farm, you get instructions on how to harness your own husky team.
You then set off to explore one of Europe’s last wildernesses during a 30-kilometre long dog-sledging trip. You'll follow roughly the same trail that the famous Finnmark dog race runs in. On the way, there will be a stop to feed the dogs. During the break, you'll also have time to take in the views, get a bite to eat and listen to a talk from your guide about the surrounding areas.
Enjoy a sauna and bonfire
In the afternoon, you arrive at the Namdalen Wilderness Lodge, a renovated farm. Out here in the wilderness, there is just silence: no traffic or other noise pollution. Once you have arrived, you release the huskies from their harness and feed them. Everyone is responsible for his or her own team of dogs. Dinner is extra special: a king crab meal – the catch of the day, and there will be a lot of it to eat!
After dinner, there is time to relax in the sauna or chat by the fireside. You spend the night in the small and cosy rooms at the lodge. Early next morning, you begin the day by feeding the huskies. After the dogs have eaten, it's time for your own breakfast. The return trip ends at the Kirkenes Snowhotel, where lunch will be served at the Gabba Restaurant.
*Included: winter clothing, 2 persons sharing a sledge, overnight in camp (in cosy small rooms, no shower), sauna, king crab meal, breakfast, lunch at Gabba Restaurant, (water, coffee, tea for all meals), transfer Kirkenes Snowhotel to Kirkenes.
