Upon arrival in Lofoten, your host will pick you up and drive you to Hattvika Lodge. The drive through amazing scenery hints at what you can expect on this three-day adventure. From the moment you check in to your cabin at Hattvika, you will feel Lofoten's charm and an eager sense of excitement of what lies ahead. Make sure to get a good night's sleep as you have a big day coming up!
From snow-capped mountains to a hot sauna
Start your day with a tasty breakfast at either the lodge restaurant or brought to your room. After fuelling up, it is time to head out to the mountains!
If you've brought your own skis, your guide will show you the best backcountry skiing experience Lofoten has to offer. Or you can join a hiking trip, where you explore the spectacular mountains by foot or on snowshoes. Either way, the scenery will blow your mind! The distance and duration of your hike will vary depending on your level of physical condition, experience and the weather conditions.
After spending a full day outdoors, nothing beats the feeling of soaking in a hot tub or steaming in a sauna - in true Norwegian style -- outdoors! Relax and warm your body while enjoying the beautiful, natural surroundings.
We end the day with a three-course meal prepared in the restaurant, with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. During winter, cod is at its best, literally giving you a taste of tomorrow's activities.
Catch it if you can
Enjoy another delicious breakfast before checking out of your room and getting ready for a boat trip with a local guide. But this is no ordinary boat trip; it's time to experience a genuine at-sea adventure!
From February to April, you can take part in the legendary Lofoten fishery. During this period, North Atlantic cod migrate to spawning grounds near Lofoten, so get ready to catch a serious amount of fish!
If you are visiting Lofoten before cod fishing season, we'll still trawl the sea for other local fish. The stunning surroundings on your trip will make this day unforgettable, no matter how large your catch.
Last taste of Lofoten
After a hard morning's work, you'll enjoy a hearty meal in the lodge restaurant before we explore Lofoten's biggest fishing village, Ballstad. Here, you'll observe how the local fishermen prepare for their next catch. This is truly Lofoten at its best!
Now, feeling energized and well versed in Arctic fishing techniques, your adventure ends with the drive back to the airport or quay.
