Upon arriving Oslo, you check in to your hotel, within walking distance from the bus station. Even though you're staying in downtown Oslo, surrounded by city life, the rooms are quiet. If you have time, we recommend heading out for a good meal at one of many nearby restaurants. Enjoy your evening and prepare for two exciting days experiencing Norway's capital city.
City sightseeing and Norwegian dinner
Make sure to eat a good breakfast because you have a full day of sightseeing. Your guide will meet you at the hotel´s reception and take you on a guided walk to see downtown Oslo´s many highlights. Learn about this fast-growing European capital and visit its iconic Opera House, the Nobel Peace Center and National Gallery.
Oslo has a lot to offer and we cover all the main sights, but you will also have some time to explore the city on your own between activities. Your very centrally located hotel is a great starting point. Many attractions are within walking distance, whether it´s shopping, art, food or just watching Oslo´s characteristically gentle city life pass by.
Come evening, you have a delicious meal to look forward to, based on traditional Norwegian ingredients and culinary pride. The marine-themed restaurant we visit is located along popular Aker Brygge. For starters, you may select such local seafood as scallops, klippfisk (dried cod), smoked salmon and caviar. For the main course, choose between Norwegian salmon or lamb. Conclude your meal with a very special dessert, Norwegian brown cheese ice cream.
Oslo from above
After breakfast and checkout the next morning, your guide meets you at the hotel for another exciting day. Today, you visit Oslo's famous Holmenkollen ski jump, just 40 minutes from downtown by public transport. On our way up on the open-air metro train, enjoy views of Oslofjord as your guide shares interesting information about the popular Oslo recreational area we pass through.
We will stop at the wooden Holmenkollen church before proceeding to the Holmenkollen ski arena, where the FIS World Cup Nordic ski festival takes place every winter.
Your guide will show you the ski museum and take you to the top of the nearly 200 ft high ski jump tower for panoramic views of Oslo and the surrounding area.
After taking in the beautiful scenery, you ride the metro train back down to your hotel where you'll collect your luggage and take the bus to the airport. From here, you'll fly to Bergen for departure on a Hurtigruten ship at Bergen terminal, where new adventures await you along the Norwegian coast!
Transfer airport to hotel; Oslo-Bergen flight and transfer from Bergen airport to Bergen port; two-night B&B hotel accommodation in Oslo; city sightseeing with guide; three-course dinner; guided trip to Holmenkollen ski jump and Frognerseteren on public transport (entrance fee, cake and hot drink included).
