The Douro Valley, an 18th century demarcated wine region, located in one of the most spectacular landscapes in Portugal, come and enjoy the terraces, the oldest ones, entirely built by hand out of schist. This amazing handmade creation is speckled here and there with Quintas, the wine producing estates once exclusive property of the greatest port wine producing families.
Your first stop will be at charming Amarante, the hometown of many artists and writers and the ideal place for a short walk passing by the Town Hall, the roman bridge and S. Gonçalo Church, followed by some time at your own leisure.
Your scenic drive will continue towards Peso da Régua, where you will visit a local winery and learn more about Port wine history and its production methods. Visit to the property wine lodge and sample the wines produced there, followed by a buffet lunch presenting you traditional Portuguese gastronomy.
After lunch, enjoy the special Douro environment and drive back to the pier.
