The city of Rio Grande is located in the south of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in the south of the country. It is a port and commercial city, characterized by its Portuguese colonial buildings and its prime location. This tour visits the historical museum; São Pedro Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in the state; and the Alfândega Building, followed by the main attraction, the Oceanographic Museum, where
there are about 100,000 different species of shells and mollusks on display. After the Oceanographic
Museum, we’ll take small boats to the EcoMuseum of Pólvora Island, which has various places to observe the fauna and flora. Then we’ll head back to the port, enjoying a panoramic view of the Molhes
da Barra, a man-made jetty reaching 14,764 feet (almost three miles) into the sea.
