Machala is the capital of El Oro province and has approximately 250,000 inhabitants. It is known as the ‘Banana Capital’, because the ‘World Fair of the Banana’ is held there the third week of September.

Disembark from the ship and head toward a local fruit and vegetable market. Guests can observe the wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables found in Ecuador, as well as the local culture and customs surrounding some of them.

The next stop is the archeological and paleontological Casa de la Cultura Museum, located in the center of Machala. It contains over 200 archeological pieces and 500 paleontological pieces. It is considered the most comprehensive museum in the city, as it narrates the history of the area thought its vestiges.

The tour continues to Zoila Ugarte park, where you have some free time to browse the shops that line the internal area of the park.

Then we drive back to the quay.
