Take to seas that were vital to the Vikings! Our tour by small boat (RIB) will carry us to Avaldsnes along Karmsundet, the narrow strait that gave Norway its name (it was once known as Nordvegen, ‘the way to the north’). For more than 3,000 years, the Viking kings that ruling here forced ships to sail this shipping route.
At the Viking Farm, we’ll visit one of the rebuilt Viking houses – the Longhouse. As we sit by the fire, enjoy an authentic Viking snack and hear the enthralling story of how Avaldsnes became Norway’s oldest royal seat. Enter the world of Viking kings, sagas, poems, and a magic that was once as real to people as the physical world is to us today.
As we speed back to our ship, you’ll be able to imagine the strait as the Vikings saw it!
