Torghatten is one of Norway’s most iconic places, known for its spectacular hole and the enthralling myths behind it. According to legend, it was created by an arrow fired by the lusty son of a mighty troll king while he was chasing a troll maiden who had been making lefse.

We start with a bus tour of Brønnøysund’s sights, before driving across Brønnøsund Bridge to Torget island and the foot of Torghatten.

Our optional walk (10–20 min each way) follows a narrow path to the seashore to view the famous hole through the mountain. The hole is 525 ft long, 115 ft high, and 50–65 ft wide. That means a Hurtigruten ship could fit through it!

We’ll warm up with a firepit, hot drink and the local version of lefse, then drive back past the Norwegian Aquaculture Center fish farm. At the pier we’ll try what could be the world’s best soft-serve ice cream!
