With snow in the mountains and the possibility of the Northern Lights in the sky, winter is perhaps the most magical time to explore Norway’s rugged scenery on a hike.

Norwegians have a special connection to nature that draws them outside in all weather, which we call ‘friluftsliv’, roughly translated to ‘outdoor life’.

You can get a better understanding of the concept of friluftsliv with the Hiking Pass, which gives you access to four out of a choice of nine hikes during a 12-day roundtrip voyage. You also have the option of booking individual hikes on board, subject to availability.

Each hike is led in small groups by one of our knowledgeable Coastal Guides, who’ll talk about a variety of subjects and highlight points of interest as we walk.

After a satisfying hike, your Coastal Guide might set up a campfire, which you can huddle around with a hot drink, listening to local tales as the Northern Lights dance—(if we’re really lucky!—in the sky above).
