On this hike, you can enjoy the beautiful landscape shaped by traditional agriculture and livestock farming. Geologically, the area stands out because it was shaped by ice, and the movement of the ice is still evident. One of the clearer signs is how the ice moved blocks and scattered them around the landscape.

Trollpikken is the name of a famous phallus-shaped stone formation formed thousands of years ago by warm and red-glowing molten rock. Today, it is situated within a beautiful cultural landscape in Magma Geopark. The rock in this area is anorthosite. Anorthosite is a plutonic rock formed by magma deep beneath a large mountain range about one billion years ago. Long before it was known that anorthosite is the same rock as on the surface of the moon, the area here was described as a lunar landscape, as the area had sparse vegetation and was not very fertile. A hike in this unique landscape is something very special, since it is almost like being on the moon.
