The group will travel by guided bus to the tiny Sami village of Maze, around an hour south of Alta. Along the way, the guide will entertain travelers with stories about the history and life in Alta and Norway. The guests will have the chance to talk with and get to know local reindeer herders and their way of life. Along with a traditional Sami lunch (reindeer and potato stew, called ‘bidos’), the group will also hear stories about old Sami traditions and modern life. They will even have the chance to hear joiking, the ancient Sami form of singing. The tour requires about 80 yards of walking between the bus and the activity area. Participants will sit on reindeer hides on the ground.
