Norway is known for its strong connection to the sea, and Ålesund is one of its best-known fishing capitals. While you’re here, learn about the local sea life at the Norwegian Aquarium, or Atlanterhavsparken, one of the most unique and interactive aquariums in Europe.
Watch as catsharks chase their prey, penguins and seals are fed, and otters play in their pool. The awesome Atlantic Tank is one of Europe's largest, stocked with coldwater fish such as cod and herring. There's an interactive science centre, an aquaculture display, and a touch pool, where you can handle crabs, sea cucumbers, and more.
