Tromsø Wilderness Centre on Kvaløya Island is situated in a scenic area with views of the ocean and mountains. Here you will meet more than 250 huskies and puppies. The center’s founder, Tove Sørensen, counts over 30 years of experience with dog sledging racing. Her participation in the Idiatrod, the world longest dog sled race was honored with the “Most Inspirational Musher” Award and she is the first woman ever to start more than 20 times in the world second longest race, Finnmarksløpet. On this tour, you can learn about the world of competitive dog sledding, Husky breeding and care and even see a movie about her journey through Finnmarksløpet.

Afterwards you may join the Wilderness Centre’s guide in exploring the plant and bird life around the centre, before meeting back in the traditional Sámi lavvo (tent) for a hot drink and a slice of cake.
