Discover the beauty of Lofoten. These magnificent islands above the Arctic Circle are one of Norway’s most scenic places. At Værøy in Lofoten, the residents are hugely outnumbered by birds. More than hundred thousand sea birds live here during the nesting season. The bird species commonly found here include fulmars, gannets, Arctic terns, guillemots, gulls, sea eagles, puffins, kittiwakes, cormorants, eiders and petrels.
Birds and amazing nature
From Værøy, we set out to sea in a RIB, to take a closer look at the bird cliffs. At this time of year, the birds are migrating back here after a long winter. Hopefully we will be able to see the birds at this time.
Even if we can't see the birds, the trip will be worthwhile. The scenery at Værøy is simply stunning, with white-sand beaches, soaring ridges, tiny, isolated villages, granite-gneiss bird cliffs and sparkling seas.
