This entertaining and educational walking tour features a handful of historic sites in downtown Camden, including the Camden Public Library grounds and Amphitheatre, which were designated a National Historic Landmark in 2013. Learn about the people, places and industries that continue to make Camden a special destination.
The tour begins at the Children's Garden of the Camden Public Library on Atlantic Avenue and ends at the Village Green. This is a moderate walk, suitable for all ages. The walking tour lasts approximately 60 minutes.
Then board the Lively Lady for a one-hour harbour cruise. On the trip you will see Curtis Island lighthouse, traditional sailing vessels, visiting yachts, Maine's rocky coastline, and seaside mansions only visible from the water. In addition to seagulls and cormorants, we often see harbour seals, porpoises, bald eagles, osprey, and guillemots (a cousin to the puffin).
We often observe commercial lobstermen hauling their traps, and once-in-a-while someone famous on their mega-yacht. When we haul our own lobster trap you might see lobsters, baby lobsters, star fish, sea urchins, crabs, mussels, and an occasional surprise from the deep!
There is ample time to do some shopping or find a cafe for some local lobster before the drive back to Rockland.
