During the tour, a local guide shows Húsavík’s best spots and hidden gems, starting by the harbor area. Then it’s on to Húsavíkurkirkja, the iconic wooden church built in 1907. We continue to Skrúðgarðurinn, the attractive town gardens where the bubbling Búðará flanks the winding path and small wooden bridges criss-cross the brook. Other locations we visit include the area around the oldest house in Iceland, built by Swedish explorer Garðar Svavarsson in the winter of 870. There is also a panoramic viewpoint of the harbor, the heart of the town in the past. Even nowadays, in a different way, it is the core of the local community. History, culture, and folklore emerge on foot, while you hear unusual local tales and fun facts. You can return to the ship at your leisure.
