The glacial lagoon adventure begins
The drive to the glacial lagoon is dramatic and has some of the finest scenery that Iceland has to offer. Between the mountains, glacial 'tongues' extend downward to the low ground. Pastoral landscapes are squeezed between the shifting black sands on the seaward side, and you'll see cliffs and glacial outflows inland. Here, agriculture and wildlife exist in harmony.
Eventually we’ll reach Jökulsárlón, the 328-feet-deep glacial river lagoon, which is full of large icebergs, carved from the Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier. There we will embark on a cruise on the pristine water, sailing in between the blue, white, and black ice.
We'll stop at a local restaurant for lunch before we return to the serene and beautiful village of Höfn, and then return to the ship.
