Norse artifactsin the kitchen garden
In the 1960s, the manager of the fish factory wanted some dirt for his kitchen garden. He found a bit more than he bargained for: Norse artifacts. Thenarchaeologists unearthed a complete longhouse in the middle of town. You can see a lot of these items at the Narsaq Museum, situated at the old harbor, and learn more about the history of the Norsemen and the local history. In addition, a local rock collectorhas created his own exhibit about minerals and rocks, including the rare Tugtupitmineral, which has only been found in very few places in the world. There are also interior exhibitions featuringdifferent periods, as well as a memorial house for poets, priests, and painter Henrik Lund. A visit to this museum is included in the town walk.
