Join this two-hour boat trip to the northern part of the ice fjord, where gigantic icebergs have become stranded. See their intricate icy structure, hear them crack and shudder, feel their deep glacial chill.

The icebergs soar more than 300 feet above sea level. These gigantic shards of ice have broken off from Sermeq Kujalleq - the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere. This is one of the few glaciers by which the Greenland ice cap reaches the sea. Sermeq Kujalleq is one of the fastest moving, 60 ft per day, and most active glaciers in the world, producing about 20 billion tons of ice yearly. The icebergs reach the open sea in front of the city of Ilulissat and commence traveling northward before turning south, into the Atlantic Ocean.

The Ilulissat Icefjord became a UNESCO Word Heritage Site in 2004. It´s no wonder. The visual spectacle of this vast sheet of ice accompanied by the dramatic soundtrack of a fast-moving glacial ice stream calving into an iceberg-strewn fjord make this an unforgettable experience.
