The small town of Santiago holds big surprises to its visitors. You will cross the heart of Galicia to reach the town of Santiago, while your guide imparts some of the region’s history, a perfect prelude to the sights that await you in the town. Once in Santiago, the guide will introduce you to the history of Saint James. We visit the inside the cathedral, built using combined influence of Romanesque, ogival Gothic, and Baroque styles.
In the cathedral, some of the highlights include the Portico de la Gloria and the silver urn that contains the ashes of Saint James. After the visit to the cathedral, there is a guided walk through the quiet streets and picturesque squares, and we will admire the Plaza del Obradoiro, the heart of the town and where the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos and the Palacio Rajoy are located. Lunch will be served at the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos, a 17th-century building declared a National Monument and where typical dishes from the area will be served.
Guests will have free time after lunch before joining the bus to return to La Coruña. Before arriving to La Coruña, guests will be able to admire the impressive Galician landscape.
