In the path of Saint James
The small town of Santiago has many surprises. You will cross the heart of Galicia to reach the town of Santiago, your guide will share with you some of the region's history, a perfect prelude to the sights that await you in the town.
Once in Santiago, the guide will introduce you to the history of Saint James. We visit inside the Cathedral, built on a combined influence of Romanesque, Ogival gothic and Baroque styles. During the visit some of the highlights pointed out will be: the Portico de la Gloria and the silver Urn than contains the ashes of Saint James.
After the visit of the Cathedral, a guided walk through the quiet streets and picturesque squares will be done, admiring the Plaza del Obradoiro, real heart of the town and where the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos and the Palacio Rajoy are placed. After visiting the cathedral we will go for lunch.
Lunch will be served at the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos, a 17th. Century building declared National Monument where typical dishes from the area will be served. After lunch, some free time will be given to guests, before joining the bus to return to La Coruña. Before arriving to La Coruña, guests will be able to admire the impressive Galician landscape.
- During the visit to the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela all guests must cover their shoulders and no shorts or short skirts are permitted.
