Picturesque Algarve and Silves
From the pier you will drive through cultivated and picturesque Algarve countryside towards Silves, the former capital of the Moorish province of Algarve which was a place of grandeur during the Moors period.
The city retains lots of character and an interesting historical center. Visit the Castle in original Moorish architecture and enjoy the view of the town.
Up the mountains
You will then head north into the foothills of the Serra de Monchique, a green and wooded mountain range of cork, chestnut and eucalyptus. Visit Caldas de Monchique, set in a ravine and converted to a spa since the Roman times.
We continue to Fóia, the highest point of the Algarve (902 mts) - from here weather permitting you will be able to admire the views over the coastline and also further inland. Taste “Medronhos”, the typical liqueur from this region.
Continue towards Alvor, famous for its deluxe and private resorts and stop in Prainha Beach. Time for lunch at Restaurant O Búzio, which overlooks the beach, followed by some leisure time. You can choose from a stroll on Prainha Beach or simply relax in the sun.
Should the weather not be pleasant there will be free time at Portimão.
