The village of Ferragudo
You will have a panoramic drive passing by Ferragudo village which is full of character. As an important fishing community with its history reaching back to the Phoenicians and the Roman period, Ferragudo keeps the cobbled charms of Algarvian maritime life. You will see the fort of São João do Arade constructed to defend Portimão and the Arade estuary from the frequent pirate raids.
To the gorgeous Carvoeirio beach
Continue in direction to Carvoeiro which is one of the most famous beaches of Algarve. You will stop at the viewpoint of Algar Seco for some photos of these impressive rock foundations and to go down to Carvoeirio beach.
After that you will visit Portimão Museum which has been awarded in 2010 with the Council of Europe Museum Prize. The Portimão Museum housed in a former sardine canning factory on the estuary of the Arade River has successfully restored the industrial/historical heritage of the Portimão area.
After the visit we drive to Portimão city centre and enjoy some time at Praia da Rocha.
