This remarkable adventure visits such natural sites as the famous, cascading Arado waterfalls and the Pedra Bela viewpoint, with its incredible panorama over the surrounding landscape.
A 4WD vehicle picks you up at the pier and takes you to Peneda-Gerês National Park, covering 270 square miles. Contrary to ecosystems preserved in their natural state with little human interference, this is a humanized landscape. After seeing the Arado waterfalls and the spectacular view from Pedra Bela, we break for a delicious picnic.
Gerês spa village dates back to Roman times, but it was during the 18th century that Dom João V ordered construction of the first thermal baths here. You have some time to explore the village on your own or simply relax.
We then continue towards Caniçada Lake – another idyllic site in the park. Take advantage of this last photo stop before we return to the pier.
