Gerês National Park

This adventure and nature tour allows participants to explore Gerês, Portugal’s only national park!

Your four-wheel drive vehicle will pick you up at the pier and take you to the protected area of Gerês, which covers 270 square miles and is the only one with the status of national park, due to its natural and cultural value. In places, visitors can find ecosystems in their natural state, with little human influence—even in a humanized landscape.

You will be able to explore some of its amazing spots including the famous Arado Waterfall and the Pedra Bela Viewpoint, which has incredible views over the whole landscape. You will also enjoy a delicious picnic before heading to the Gerês spa village.

The Gerês spa village dates back to Roman times, but it wasn’t until the 18th century that João V ordered the construction of the first thermal establishment. You will have some time on your own to visit the village and simply relax.

Then it’s on to another idyllic location of the park, Caniçada Lake, where you can take your last photos before returning to the pier.

• Included: Picnic – Portuguese bread; typical Portuguese snacks (panados, croquetes, rissois, bolinhos de bacalhau); custard cream cake; water, juice, beer, or wine.

• Remarks/requirements: Appropriate clothing, layers, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, and a coat

• Walking information: Approximately 0.4 miles (30–50 stairs on the visit to Arado Waterfall).

• Wheelchair accessible: No
