Introduction to Bremen
After a one hour journey by coach along one of Germany’s many Autobahnen, we arrive in the fairy tale like city center and experience some of the historic highlights of Bremen during a brief orientation tour by coach.
Starting at the graceful statue of the Knight Roland, who has been smiling down on the market place since 1404 and is the best known of the 39 that can be found worldwide and the city’s most famous landmark – he is a symbol of Bremen’s freedom; the Market Square, known as the most beautiful one in Europe and where the architectural styles of 5 different eras are visible and the 600 years old “Bremer Rathaus” (Old Town Hall), Bremen’s most proud and prime example of distinct Gothic architecture, dating back to 1405 with its magnificent facade.
Explore the city like a local!
After this brief tour you will transfer by coach to the Bürgerpark, one of the most popular recreational spots in Bremen for a traditional activity - a leisurely cycle tour followed by a relaxing “Frühschoppen” (“early pint”) in a typical German Biergarten.
It is here where you will “saddle” your bicycles and “do as the Bremer do” …… start off a leisurely cycle …… “a must” as Bremen is Germany’s most friendly bicycle city !
On any given sunny summer day in Bremen, you’ll find the locals bike riding or walking through this Bürgerpark, a beautiful park covering more than 200 hectares in the city center. This lush green oasis lures those who want to enjoy forests, vast green lawns, waterways, and ponds. After enjoying Bremen’s green side, many locals head to Waldbühne (forest stage), Bremen’s most popular biergarten.
This morning, be like a true local Bremer and enjoy a visit to the Waldbühne biergarten after a leisurely 1½ hour bike ride through Bürgerpark. Once at the biergarten enjoy a freshly drafted beer / or soft drink and some traditional German snacks. Relax, watch the locals, live and let live.
After a refreshment stop of 30 - 45 minutes you continue your tour for a few more minutes before you meet your coach at a particular pick-up point for boarding and returning to Bremerhaven …… having truly lived as the local Bremer lives.
