A full day awaits you as we visit the outskirts of Amsterdam, taking in the city of Delft, and one of its factories, famous for its blue and white porcelain, and also a panoramic guided drive through The Hague (Den Haag).
Your motor coach will take you on your journey south to visit the Royal Delft’s Bleu factory “The Porceleyne Fles”. During your visit here, you will enjoy a guided tour where you can watch the age-old process involved in creating the world famous Delft porcelain. Artists will demonstrate detailed hand-painting of Delft earthenware that makes each piece a work of art.
While its competitors have resorted to mass production, this factory has been faithfully producing porcelain in its traditional way since being founded in 1653. Within your free time here, you will also have the opportunity to browse or purchase items from their shop before returning to your motor coach for the short drive to the city of Delft. Enjoy a short guided walking tour of Delft through the narrow streets of this charming 17th century city of canals, cobbled alleys and gabled houses. Although most famous for its celebrated blue and white porcelain, to the Dutch people Delft holds an important place in history as the site of William the 1st of Orange’s assassination and the birthplace of the famous Dutch painter Vermeer.
Then, enjoy some free time on your own before continuing on to the Hague, (Den Haag) for a guided coach tour. Pass the Dutch government building, the spectacular Peace Palace, where the international court of justice is situated and other interesting buildings and sights before your coach takes you back to the ship.
